Baroque in the Fields period instrument orchestra
In 1706, Handel travelled to Italy, where he remained for almost four years. During his time there, he absorbed Italian musical styles and worked with prominent musicians. The concert includes two major choral works composed by Handel in Rome: the dramatic and virtuosic Dixit Dominus and Laudate pueri. While in Rome, Handel encountered Arcangelo Corelli, who had a profound impact on Handel’s instrumental music. Corelli’s Concerto Grosso No. 7 in D Major will also be featured.
Tickets ordered after March 20 will be held at the door.
